Japanese Body Pillow 2.0

Why?! Why are the Japanese allowed to invent things like this? I am confuzzled.  Ahh! It's too much!

Sing for Absolution

I was ecstatic last year when I heard that one of my favorite bands, Muse was going to be playing a show in Las Vegas. That ecstasy soon turned into disappointment when I found out that tickets sold out in mere moments. My heart sank and I thought I'd never seen them again. If it took them this long to come to the United States why would they come back? I was wrong, they are coming back and in April I will be there should the gods permit me to do so!

I remember the first time hearing Muse. I was in middle school and mildly addicted to AOL Instant Messaging. I met a boy from Belgium who asked me if I ever heard of them. He was surprised that I said no because at the time Muse was HUGE in Europe, like the Rolling Stones in the 60s status and gaining popularity by the minute. He send me three music videos, Bliss, Plug in Baby and Hyper Music. I needed more of this wonderful music because I fell in love and have been a fan ever since.

Now, roughly 10 years later I get to see them for the first time with my best friend and I can hardly wait. It's been a while since I've been to a show, too long indeed. This will be a life changing and exciting experience! Like trying to squeeze through a doggie door or eating filipino food. I can't wait.

My Thoughts on Michael Cera

What's thin, pale and annoying? No, not the Olsen twins. It's Michael Cera

Don't worry this isn't going to be a post about how cute or talented I think Cera is. He's not that cute and as far as talent goes, he has definitely fit into his role of "nerdy somewhat indie virgin." I've seen too many of his films: Juno, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, Superbad, Paper Heart and the latest, Youth in Revolt

To that I say, no more!  No more Michael Cera movies. I feel like he is trying too hard to be the really cool actor who teenage girls would want to hang out with. I'm not buying it. Secretly he's got to be an alcoholic or something, maybe a Klepto. Don't worry this isn't libel, none of it is true. I am merely expressing my feelings for a certain individual.

Take this latest film
Youth in Revolt. Boring. I was highly unamused, not just by the overplayed-kinda-like-Fight Club-but-not-really plot but by Michael Cera. I hate seeing him stand there with his soft little voice, mouth slightly pursed as if he's waiting for the director to say "cut! good job with that awkward pause Mike!" Stop that! Be louder!

That's really all I have to say. I guess someone has got to be the nerdy somewhat indie virgin in Hollywood. Good job Michael Cera, but I don't want to watch anymore of your movies.

No More Starbucks! Pt. 2

I went grocery shopping today. It was pretty lonely going without my mom and I went over my budget, but I got some awesome foods.

In keeping with my post yesterday about eating healthy on-the-go foods, I tried to look for non-traditional stoner food items like string cheese, crackers, and eggs, the wonder food. Oh and more steak than I could probably handle. Go meat!

But I was surprised and pissed to find that some of the "healthier" option foods weren't healthy at all! Some of the reduced-fat, no-fat, low sodium, low-carb nonsense that grocery stores try to sell is bunk. If you compare the nutrition labels to some of the regular options, there will be little to no difference in the foods and they charge up to 75cents more for it! One Weight Watchers 8ounce whipped cream cheese actually had more fat and sodium in it than the Philadelphia whipped cream cheese. It cost more too, bogus.

So shoppers beware the health food trap! Eat what you want to eat, just don't eat it all of the time. :)

No More Starbucks!

Being a college student, one can go broke very quickly from simply buying food. It seems there is never enough time in a day to cook let alone sit down and have a meal. Not only does eating out break the bank, but it breaks my butt, if you know what I mean...

One of my New Year's goals is to stop substituting coffee for a meal. Coffee is not breakfast!

In the past,  I have tried on numerous occasions to bring my lunch to school and work to avoid buying the delicious fast foods that surround the campus. I can usually keep it up for about a month and a half before I give up and need to have Einstein Bagel's and coffee three days a week.  It's quick and convenient and melts in my mouth.

But this semester I don't think I can get away with that since I spent more than my spending money on my trip to Georgia and am in the process of looking for another job. So I found this lovely blog called Enlightened Cooking with some healthy, nonperishable food ideas that I will be stocking up on for this semester.

I can't promise no Einstein Bagels, but I will be healthy this semester and save money!

My favorite ideas so far are the dried fruits, cheeses and soups to go. I think I will also reignite my kindergarten senses and get some apple sauce cups and graham crackers. Delicious!

Mushroom Jazz

What do I love more than music? New music! Last night I took a very long, strenuous and uncomfortable flight from Atlanta, Georgia to Las Vegas and almost died. I couldn't sleep and had to pee for most of the 4 hours, but there was one redeeming aspect from the flight, (aside from the sweet lady I sat with) and that was Delta Airline's awesome entertainment system! You could listen to entire albums for FREE! Free damnit!!!

I discovered three albums that I love but my favorite was this trip hop, nu-wavey acid jazz album called
Mushroom Jazz. DJ Mark Farina produces these compilation CD's, there are 6 in total so far and I am in love with all that I've heard. The music is so chill, laid back and makes me want to sleep or smoke or float on a cloud, I can't decide. To me, this isn't really jazz though, it's more trip hop than anything, but I enjoy it. Check it out and trip outttt! Or not...

Booty Pop Panties!

This commercial is just too good and good funny! I love that they featured one semi-ethnic girl amongst a slew of flat butted white women. I thought white girls hated having big butts? Isn't that the stereotype?

On a serious note, this whole big booty fetish than men have is annoying. Personally, I do not have the biggest butt and I've had men and women on numerous occasions make comments about my butt. As a black woman, I guess I don't meet the standards of men unless my butt is enormous. So what? That mentallity needs to stop. Look at my face, not my butt! I will not be buying these horendous panties nor will I ever wear a push-up bra. Embrace what God gave you, ladies and make it work!
